Pair given a chance – Recruits developed by Magenta step out into world of work

MAGENTA Living has just said goodbye to its first two Give Us A Chance recruits after six months of paid work experience to prepare them for the world of employment.

Magenta Living is a member of the Give us a Chance consortium which has 25 members across the whole of Eng-land. The group came together following the end of Future Jobs Fund to look at building on the successes of that scheme.

Environmental Services team said goodbye and good luck to Damian Emptage and Graham Boylin who had spent six months on a paid placement, gaining valuable on the job work experience.

Certificates were presented by Sally Kew, Community Development Co-ordinator, at a team farewell buffet lunch.

Graham and Damian said they had really enjoyed their time with the company Graham said: “This has been a great chance for me and has given my day a purpose for the past six months. I chose cleaning so I could get an idea of what the job entails and what was required.

“I didn’t realise how interesting cleaning could be. It’s actually a science. You have to learn about the products and what chemicals can be mixed, what can’t and the risks involved. It’s been a great experience.”

Sally Kew said: “Hopefully Damian and Graham leave Magenta Living in a much better position than when they arrived and well equipped to obtain future employment.”
