Genesis Housing joins GUAC
Genesis Housing manage approx 33,000 homes in London and the East of England.
Genesis Housing formed in 2011, after the amalgamation of four different housing organisations; Springboard with Pathmeads, Paddington Churches Housing Association and Genesis Housing Group.
Their work first began in London in 1965 with the creation of Paddington Churches Housing Association when post-war London hit a housing crisis.
Since that time, not only have Genesis provided homes for their residents but they have also developed a programme to support people’s lives. Ranging from facilitating volunteering opportunities and running community centres to working specifically with young people to support them with job searches, work placements and interview skills to name just a few.
Kate Shone, Chair of GUAC said, “Genesis do a lot of work with young people and provide a strong support network with initiatives like the Fairbridge Programme and the Earn While You Learn apprenticeships. Working with Genesis is going to be really exciting for the consortium.”
The organisations has won several awards, including winning The Times Top 50 employers for Women in 2014 and the Fair Train Work Experience Quality Standard award which recognises the framework for providing work experience, volunteering, training and skills opportunities for residents and in their communities.
