GUAC talks with New York

This week, GUAC will be co-hosting the first ever housing and employment roundtable, between New York and London.

GUAC, L&W and New York based think tank, MDRC are bringing together leading stakeholders from both cities to discuss how we can learn from each other’s experiences and improve the life chances of all our city’s tenants. In London, we have Deputy Mayor for Planning, Regeneration and Skills at the GLA, Jules Pipe, whilst in New York we will be hearing from the Commissioner of the New York City Housing Preservation and Development in NYC, Maria Torres-Springer.  Hosted in real time, this web based video conference, marks a step forward for collaboration between the two cities, as we both seek to learn from each other, to tackle and improve employment and working prospects in both city’s social tenancies.

The event will consider shared experiences of employment interventions in social housing and public housing and seek to adopt best practice for our cities. We’ll report on the event to all members.
